MILWARDS BAMBOO POLE

Milwards bamboo pole information and details on the features and characteristics of this sort-after piece of fishing tackle.

Milwards Bamboo Pole Description

The Milwards Bamboo Pole was a very interesting split cane fishing rod intended for use in river and lake fishing. Nowadays a fairly rare rod, the pole consisted of five sections and fitted with brass ferrules. As with all Milwards fishing rods, the Bamboo Pole was crafted with the finest materials, hence the durability of the pole. Normally made of Tonkin cane, these rods are incredibly strong, flexible and sensitive - surpassing the specifications of most modern day equivalents made from any material.

Where to Find One

Examples of the Bamboo Pole show up infrequently at various auctions both online and traditional, especially in England where they were manufactured. They are now considered collectors items, so if you do spot one at a reasonable price it would be well worth getting hold of.

To locate one, try visiting specialist vintage and antique fishing tackle dealers on the Internet. Even if they don't have one on hand, you can ask them to keep an eye out and contact you if one becomes available. Also be sure to regularly scan eBay auctions just in case a Milwards Bamboo Pole is put up for sale.

Like any Milwards rod, this pole is a piece of artwork in its own right. It is worth having just to display in your home even if you have no intention of using it in the field. Although if you were to take one on a fishing trip you would find that it would perform excellently and surpass your expectations! Good luck with finding one of these great pieces of fishing gear.
